Re-enabling models already in game

Post by MC_JPOG on Thu Jul 05, 2012 1:33 pm

Today, walking around the models folder on the Jurassic Park Operation Genesis folder, I got face to face to what could a excellent new : I was able to re-enable one of the models that got out of the game!

You may not believe me so I got a few screenshots you will see at the bottom of the page.

At the models folder I went like WTF? when I saw some wall's models. They got out of the final version of the game but today I re-enabled it .

There's two types of wall models in game. One looks like the one that I got prints, the other one looks like a cemetery.

I don't know if someone already done this, but if they did, then I'm late and I'm sorry.

What I did :

First : Checked Units, there are no wall files.
What you need to do if you want one type of wall like the one on the pics (old on, we'll get there Wink )

ADITIONAL INFORMATION : Back up the : Bldmenu.ini (Inside GUI folder), otherwise, I'm not responsible for unreversible game errors that may happen if you don't back it up.

I noticed the .inx file that I needed to create in order to have it fine in-game was probably, the one GEP team used to create the tombstone, then what you need to do is :

Make a copy of WT1SCT90.ini (who is inside the units folder ) and open it . These are the modifications you need to do :

Search for these parts and put them like this :

Unit {
Name=Wall_L;
Directory=AUnitWayPoint;
TClass=AUnitHatcheryPowerBox;
ScreenName=$Unit_Wall_L;
Help=$UnitHelp_AUnitWall1;
BuildMenuPath=Fences;
UICommand1=Upgrade;
UICommand3=Repair;
FootprintX= 1 ;
FootprintY= 1 ;
UseINX= 1 ;
}

--
Animations {
Model=Wall_L;
Thisiswall=1
}

UnitSpecific {
UnitsAllowed= 600 ;
TerScore=-0.1 ;
}

At the animations you will notice a "Thisiswall=1". This was something I needed to place , because otherwise, the game will lag and the dinosaurs will be able to walk through them.
At UnitsAllowed just place anything you want , that's the maximum number of Walls.

Now make a copy of the tombstone.inx , who's available at GEP v2, if you don't have that file you will not be able to create walls. Open it and search for this :

GroundPlane
{
Model = ground;
Size = {8, 4};
}

Model
{
Model = Wall_L;
Position = {0, 0, 0};
}

Model
{
Model = GrndPW;
Position = {0, 0, 0};
}

}

The red part is the part you must change. Just have the Model , and write Wall_L.

Now for the final part ! Go to the Bldmenu.ini who's inside GUI , open it and add "Unit = Wall_L;" (without the quotation marks) beneath "Unit = shelter;" at the submenu Security. Adding it in the fencing submenu would cause the build menu NOT TO OPEN.

The texture of the wall seems to move, but that's nothing sooooo big... Now for the pics:

Using the same way you can enable other wall model that got quit from the game, that looks like fencing for a cementery. I'll probably teach it someday.

EDIT : Ok, here it goes : http://www.mediafire.com/?f63qw338ztc606q

Someone a couple of years earlier found out this trick but never told anyone how he did it. Nice to see that you found it out. grin

I saw this before, but nice discovery. I wish we could do this for all models that are not in game.

Well, that's a bit different.

Their models are in the models folder. That's for sure. The problem is... writting the tml , with some codes we don't know, but they need to match the dinosaurs. Well, the famous phrase says it's impossible to get Jurassic Park : Operation Genesis's game code, though, I think It'd be worth well a look at inside the digsite's tmls, because I've seen something suspicious : There's a "box" (a number, a character) completelly different in every tml, and in the very same place. I think the game code can be hidden inside the tmls, just a thought though.
(Ah come on .. I was just thinking to myself... it IS impossible to get the code, unless a Genius can take it off from the sky...)

But like I said before, the guy who made the BEP did not say how he did it in the topic for the ep.
